The European Commission has accepted the proposal to provide a new mandate to the European Union (EU) negotiating group, and for the talks with Armenia with respect to a new framework agreement.
This agreement, however, will differ from the EU Association Agreement.
A senior EU official, who wished to remain anonymous, informed the aforementioned on Tuesday.
The official noted that Armenia and the EU have conducted a “hinting exercise” during the last months.
To the query on whether he believes the new Armenia-EU document will contain economic issues, this senior EU official responded that Armenia has become a member in the Eurasian Economic Union, and therefore a Customs Union member.
“The new framework agreement between Armenia and the European Union will not relate to all domains of cooperation,” the EU official added.
