YEREVAN. - Administrative division of Armenia should again be made according to regions, Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun faction MP Artsvik Minasyan stated at the Parliament Tuesday. According to him, regionalization will undoubtedly open new resources for the development of the regions.

“And this is not the last thing, since in that case people seeing their future in politics, will have the opportunity to realize themselves on-site. Communities must be turned into regions, but not be enlarged. We thank those villages which voted against the enlargement of communities during the referendum,” Minasyan said.

The local referenda were held Sunday in the villages round Armenia’s Tumanyan and Dilijan cities and Tatev Village. According to the official data, the idea of community enlargement is supported by the significant majority of the residents: 68, 70 and 94 per cent of the resident voted for the idea in Tumanyan and its surroundings, Dilijan and Tatev respectively. The existing communities comprised of 1 (rarely 2 or 3) villages are proposed to be enlarged by up to 7-8 and sometimes by over 10 villages.
