YEREVAN. – Last year, Armenia’s former Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, who is now the country’s ambassador to the US, lent US$ 550,000 with interest rate, thus, increasing his loans to one million dollars, reported Haykakan Zhamanak daily.

“[But] unlike the loan, the funds which the ambassador declared make up a meager number: 2.5 million [Armenian] drams [approx. $5,240]. Tigran Sargsyan’s half a year’s salary as ambassador amounted to 26,124 American dollars. [But] Sargsyan had close to 30 million drams [approx. $62,890] of income from the interests received from loans.

“Last year, the ambassador’s wife, Gohar Sargsyan, purchased a 12.3 million-dram [approx. $25,785] house and a 70 thousand-dollar BMW X5 X35D-model car. Mrs. Sargsyan, for her part, lent 12,085 dollars with interest rate, making her loans reach 161,960 dollars. The Mrs. declared 30 thousand US dollars of funds,” wrote Haykakan Zhamanak.
