YEREVAN. – Armenia and Cyprus have signed cooperation plan on defense for 2015.

Armenia-Cyprus relations in defense sector are based on friendly ties, mutual readiness to provide assistance and common approaches, Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan said during a media conference with his Cypriot counterpart Christoforos Fokaides.

The Minister said directions of dynamic cooperation were clarified during talks. Minister Ohanyan informed about the Armenian-Cypriot commission co-chaired by Armenian Deputy Defense Minister and Secretary of the Defense Ministry. The third meeting of the commission will be held later this year.

According to Ohanyan, the ministers discussed regional and international security issues.

“These meetings allow once again state the presence of a common approach and coordinate joint efforts aimed at strengthening peace and stability,” Ohanyan said, adding that Defence Minister of Cyprus suggested holding joint exercises.

“I have also accepted the invitation to visit Cyprus,” the Armenian Minister said.
