YEREVAN. – Even though the National Security Council (SC) of Armenia carries out no significant activities as a state-run agency, its staff makes huge expenditures at the expense of the state budget, reported Chorrord Ishkhanutyun daily.

“During the month of April alone, the SC spent close to 2 million 390 thousand drams [approx. US$ 4,988] for car repair services. (…) Furthermore, this institution spent more than 610 thousand drams [approx. $1,273], in April, for printing work. It turns out that the SC has ordered for its staff 80 certificates as well as black opaque envelopes, folders, and so on.

“And what role and importance has the Security Council—to which huge amounts of money are given from the state budget—for the public administration system [of Armenia] is evidenced by the fact that the position of the Security Council Secretary has been vacant for exactly one year,” wrote Chorrord Ishkhanutyun.
