American Armenian Agasi Vartanyan ended his 55-day fasting on Thursday, May 28.

Vartanyan’s friends told Armenian News-NEWS.am that hundreds of Armenians had come to greet him.

The American Armenian was fasting since April 3 outside the Armenian church in Burbank, California, and to draw the world’s attention on the Armenian Genocide Centennial.

Agasi Vartanyan was fasting inside a three-meter-high-and-three-meter-wide glass-enclosed space. He had taken along solely water for 55 days, clothing, and a mobile phone with him.

The whole area was under constant video surveillance.
