YEREVAN. – One will be able to talk about social consequences of the electricity price rise only after the final decision on figures is made, Labor and Social Affairs Minister Artem Asatryan said.

“We are worried about increase in any rate, of course, since it will first of all affect socially vulnerable families. And here the actions of the government have to be targeted at solving their problems,” the Minister said.

Asked whether the Ministry will discuss subsidies for vulnerable groups, Asatryan said: “We cannot choose between preferable options until the final figures are on the table.”

The current electricity rate is 41.85 drams per 1 kWh during the day and 31.85 at night. However, it is proposed to increase the rate to 58 and 48 drams respectively.
