Within the framework of a working trip to Kazakhstan, the Armenian governmental delegation headed by PM Hovik Abrahamyan today took part in the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting.

The speakers of the meeting were the PMs of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states. In his speech, Armenia’s PM Hovik Abrahamayan noted that within a year after signing the EAEU agreement, the implementation process of decisions and agreements indicates the readiness of all the participants to deepen the integration. According to Abrahamyan, close trade and economic ties must contribute to the modernization of the member states’ economy, as well as raise competition. He also presented his approaches to the cooperation expansion perspectives.

During the meeting, the government heads of the EAEU member states discussed around twenty questions on the further cooperation development in the framework of the EAEU. The meeting resulted in the signing and approving of a number of documents, prescribing the cooperation of member states various economic spheres. Specifically, the Light Industry Development Action Plan was confirmed. The question on creating conditions for the development of vehicles and equipment for agriculture in the EAEU member states was also approved.

The participants also discussed a number of draft documents, which are expected to be adopted by the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council.

It was decided to hold the next meeting in Belarus in September. 

The meeting was followed by the private talks between the government heads of EAEU member states and Vietnam PM Nguyen Tan Dung, after which an agreement between the EAEU member states and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam was signed.
