YEREVAN. - Armenia’s Agriculture Ministry is waiting for donor funds for the agriculture sector insurance, Armenia’s Agriculture Deputy Minster Samvel Galstyan said in the parliament on Friday.   

According to him, a pilot project in the sphere of cattle-breeding was launched in Vayots Dzor province in mid-2014. “INGO Armenia” became the insurance company. Currently, the possibility of expanding the project to fruit cropping is being discussed. The results of the discussion will be summed up in 1-2 months.

The Ministry of Agriculture is waiting for financial cooperation with international donors for the technical support and growth of insurance portfolio. “But, of course, certain amount must also be contributed by the farmers themselves,” Galstyan said.
