YEREVAN. – Electricity price rise in Armenia may become a catastrophe, economist Vardan Bostanjyan believes.
Former MP Bostanjyan said the fact that people took to the streets as a sign of protest is an evidence that they will not be able to make both ends meet.
“Social conditions are not that good, and this will be a new burden. This may become an end,” Bostanjyan said, adding that Electric Networks have to cut expenses.
The current electricity rate is 41.85 drams per 1 kWh during the day and 31.85 at night. However, it is proposed to increase the rate to 58 and 48 drams respectively.
