A Russian soldier was found dead Monday, and nearby the 102nd Russian Military Base in Gyumri, the second largest city of Armenia.
The soldier’s name was Ivan Novikov, and he was serving in the 102nd Russian Military Base, said Shirak Province Prosecutor Raffi Aslanyan, speaking to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
He noted that although the Russian side has not yet given any information on Novikov’s date of birth, they know that he was serving in Armenia for the past two to three months.
The Shirak Province Prosecutor stated that there are stab wounds on the Russian soldier’s body.
“Now, the scene of the incident is being examined,” Aslanyan said. “Traces of violence were found on the body of the military serviceman.”
He added, however, that they have no theories yet on the cause of death.
