YEREVAN. – Official opening of the Pesticide Quality Control Laboratory was held Tuesday in Yerevan, the capital city of Armenia.

The event also brought together Minister of Agriculture Sergo Karapetyan, and Greek Ambassador Ioannis Taghis.

The laboratory opened within the framework of a program by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), and in collaboration with the Government of Armenia.

In his remarks at the event, Minister Karapetyan also thanked the Greek government for its assistance in the establishment of this laboratory, and he stressed the importance of having such a laboratory in Armenia.

“I’m convinced that this laboratory, which is unique and the only one of its kind in the region (…), will greatly contribute to improving food quality in our country,” the minister noted, in particular.

Ambassador Taghis, for his part, expressed the hope that their collaboration with the Armenian Ministry of Agriculture will further develop and expand, and the agricultural programs will continue.
