YEREVAN. – The Czech Republic considers Armenia a good friend and an important partner, Foreign Minister Lubomír Zaorálek said in Yerevan.
The Minister said he is happy to see intensive development of bilateral relations, noting great potential for cooperation in the areas of economy, energy, renewable resources, agriculture, road and railway construction.
Mr. Zaorálek added that many Czech companies are ready to launch projects in Armenia. In general, the Minister expressed his satisfaction with the fact that Armenia has expressed its intention to develop cooperation with the EU, despite the membership in the Eurasian Economic Union. In this regard, the Minister praised the approach of Armenia to Europe and the willingness to develop a new legal basis for cooperation.
Minister Zaorálek hailed results of the Riga summit and welcomed talks between Armenia and EU.
As noted by Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian, during the talks, the parties discussed bilateral relations, legal and contractual framework, political dialogue and cooperation within international agencies. Opening of the embassy of Czech Republic in Armenia that will take place later in the day will promote bilateral ties, the Minister added.
Minister Nalbandian also said he had informed his counterpart about the efforts made by Armenia and OSCE Minsk Group for the settlement of Karabakh conflict.
