YEREVAN. – The Ministry of Energy of the Russian Federation (RF) has no connection with the electricity price increase in Armenia. The Russian Minister of Energy, Alexander Novak, made such a statement on Thursday, reported Haykakan Zhamanak daily.

‘“We have no influence on the current events in Armenia. The government of that country adopts on its own the decisions regarding the formulation of the tariffs. And naturally, Russia has no connection with the mass demonstrations taking place in Armenia,’ said Novak.

“[And] RF Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin had stated: ‘Moscow hopes that the situation will be resolved in a way that it satisfies both sides—the demonstrators, and the authorities,’” wrote Haykakan Zhamanak.
