Russian President Vladimir Putin's record rating is not enough to calm down Russia’s political elite when something is going on in Russia or its neighbor countries, which are considered its zone of influence, José Milhazes, the author of the Portuguese newspaper Observador writes.

The article notes that the Russian politicians react to the news from Yerevan with certain nervousness.

Spokesman for Kremlin Dmitry Peskov stated: “We hope solutions will be found in strict compliance with legislation.”

Konstantin Kosachev, Chairman of the Duma Committee on International Affairs,  hurried to voice accusations: “It’s not excluded that foreign organizations are behind the latest events.”

Another Senator, Igor Morozov, goes even further, stating that the events in Yerevan repeat the second stage of ‘coup d’etat’ in Ukraine, stressing that the US Embassy in Yerevan is “one of the biggest abroad.”
