Russia’s Inter RAO that owns Electric Networks of Armenia is ready to sell the company amid statements on upcoming nationalization voiced in Yerevan. The talks with Russian entrepreneurs of Armenian origin are underway, Kommersant newspaper reported citing is sources.

According to the newspaper, the company has already held talks with Samvel Karapetyan, president of Tashir company, and “other Russian entrepreneurs of Armenian origin”.

Representatives of Inter RAO refused to comment on the reports, while representatives of Tashir Group in Yerevan dismissed information.

On Saturday President Serzh Sargsyan said he does not rule out returning the company to the government and transfer to competitive management if the evaluation proves that increase in electricity prices is unjustified.

The newspaper recalls that earlier Tashir group dismissed reported about buying the company, while Samvel Karapetyan’s brother, Armenian MP Karen Karapetyan, said Tashir is not yet considering an opportunity to purchase the company. Back in May Karen Karapetyan said expected increase in electricity prices is undesirable.
