YEREVAN. – France's position on Karabakh is precise and clear – the parties have to spare no effort to avoid violence, Ambassador of France to Armenia Jean-Francois Charpentier told reporters on Monday.

The Ambassador expressed condolences to the family of the deceased Armenian soldier.

Earlier, the Azerbaijani side had violated the ceasefire, using weapons of different caliber. Armenian Armed Forces forced the adversary to stop the fire. During the skirmish, the contract soldier of the Armenian Armed Forces Armen Yepremyan was killed.

“We criticize any incidents of violence. This does not mean that what has happened and these violations will change our mind and we will abandon our policy,” Ambassador Charpentier said.

The position of France, as a co-chairing country of the OSCE Minsk Group, is clear.

“We will make every effort to provide effective support to the continuation of the negotiations. We urge the parties to be consistent and take up work on seeking options to resolve the conflict,” the diplomat added.
