The Turkish Stream natural gas pipeline project—from Russia to Turkey across the Black Sea—can be frozen for an indefinite period.

Turkey wants to file a lawsuit for international arbitration, and against the Russian Gazprom Company, and due to an absence of an agreement on the natural gas issue.

Trend news agency of Azerbaijan reported the aforementioned citing BOTAŞ Petroleum Pipeline Corporation (BOTAS), which is the state-owned crude oil and natural gas pipelines and trading company in Turkey.

Russia and Turkey fail to agree on a discount on gas, for more than half a year.

Even though the contract on Russian gas supplies expires this week, the sides could not yet reach an agreement, reported Gazeta.

The agency noted that if the parties fail to reach an agreement by the end of the week, the Turkish side will petition for international arbitration, and this will freeze the bilateral talks on the Turkish Stream  project.
