Unlike Azerbaijan, the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR; Artsakh) does not incite clashes, and it wishes to settle the problem through peace, said NKR Minister of Foreign Affairs Karen Mirzoyan, speaking to the IlGiornale.it website of Italy.

Mirzoyan reflected on the Karabakh peace process and the respective activities by the OSCE Minsk Group, and he noted that the main objective of the NKR is to settle the conflict with Azerbaijan. He added that the NKR government does not share the criticism on the work by the Minsk Group co-chairing countries (US, Russia, and France).
In the NKR FM’s words, the problem is that Azerbaijan wants to exacerbate the situation, and the campaign against Armenians becomes an underpinning of Azerbaijan’s internal policy. Mirzoyan believes that the Minsk Group should demand from Azerbaijan to take steps toward the creation of a climate of mutual trust.

The FM of Artsakh also noted that Nagorno-Karabakh wishes to return to direct talks with Azerbaijan, and he recalled that there were numerous direct contacts at the beginning of the conflict. As per Mirzoyan, however, any solution should take the reality in the country into account.

To the query on whether Azerbaijan is attempting to create an incident to resume war, Karen Mirzoyan responded that whenever a next round of Karabakh peace talks is expected, you can be sure that Azerbaijan will try to carry out attacks along the Line of Contact, and to show that there is no other solution than a new war. The NKR FM added, however, that a war is destructive for everyone, even for the one who is winning it.
