YEREVAN. – The Rescue Service of Armenia received a report on Sunday at around 9:10pm.

Accordingly, a fire had started in the forest nearby the Armenian Genocide Museum-Institute in capital city Yerevan. The fire was visible from various outskirts of the city. 

Over eighty firefighters and more than ten rescue squads were dispatched to the scene. Ordinary citizens as well as security officers on duty in the area also were fighting against the spread of fire, reported Shamshyan.com.

The fire was spreading rapidly, and the firefighters and ordinary citizens were fighting it with great difficulty. Ultimately, the fire was put out at 11:01pm, but it had destroyed about fifteen hectares of vegetated area. As of 11:40pm, a fire and rescue squad is on duty at the area.
