YEREVAN. - No violence was used against the protesters detained from Yerevan’s Baghramyan Avenue, Yerevan Deputy Chief of Police Valery Osipyan told Armenian News – NEWS.am (photos).

“The work of the police was excellent, adequate and proportionate. Their actions can serve as an example for their colleagues abroad,” Osipyan said.

According to him, the detained got bruises, when the police were trying to raise them from the ground.

“It’s not excluded that [the protestors’] wrists can redden. But this is not violence, the injuries are neither intentional nor serious,” Osipyan said. He added that the police also have similar injuries. In fact, Osipyan himself turned out to have been scratched by the protestors.

At the moment several hundreds of protestors have gathered in Yerevan’s Liberty Square, as reported by Armenian News – NEWS.am correspondent.
