YEREVAN. – The Constitutional Court (CC) of Armenia on Tuesday issued its decision based on the petition submitted by several MPs, and with respect to the constitutionality of the new Law on Funded Pensions.

Accordingly, certain provisions of this law have been declared unconstitutional and invalid by the court.

This decision is final, and it enters into force upon publicizing.

The law on making amendments to the Law on Funded Pensions in Armenia had entered into force on July 1, 2014. Pursuant to the new law, the employees of the country’s state-run non-profit organizations, including institutions of higher education—and who are born after January 1, 1974—, cannot refuse to make social payments.
