YEREVAN. – A total of 110,000 tons of fruits have grown in Armenia since the beginning of the current year.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Samvel Galstyan, noted the aforementioned at a press conference on Wednesday. He added that apricots have made up the 86,000 tons of this amount.

In Galstyan’s words, the year promises a higher yield for fruits with stones, and a large apricot harvest is expected in all the respective regions in Armenia.

“Last year, if you recall, the apricot harvest was very little,” added the minister. “But this year, we hope to exceed the 2013 indicator.”

According to statistical data, 88,800 tons of apricots were grown in Armenia in 2013.
