The 6th Pan-Armenian Games’ torch lighting ceremony was held at the yard of the St. Gregory the Illuminator Armenian Cathedral in Buenos Aires, the capital city of Argentina.

Well-known Argentinean Armenian athlete Alberto Parseghian (former goalkeeper of Club Deportivo Armenio and of several other Argentine football clubs) lit and carried the torch.

Armenia’s Ambassador to Argentina, Alexan Harutyunyan, also attended the event.

Ambassador Harutyunyan, in his remarks, underscored the role and importance of the Pan-Armenian Games in uniting Armenians worldwide, bringing young Diaspora Armenians to the Motherland, and strengthening Armenia-Diaspora ties.

He also stressed the importance of holding the forthcoming 6th Pan-Armenian Games especially within the framework of the Armenian Genocide Centennial commemorations.
