The Ministry of Culture of Ukraine has put renowned French actor Gérard Depardieu on its “blacklist” of people that are considered a threat to the country’s national security, reported Ouest-France journal of France.

As a result, the movies where Depardieu has acted are banned in the cinemas and TVs in Ukraine. In addition, his name will not be mentioned in the Ukrainian media.

The reason for this decision was the French actor’s statement that he loves “Russia and Ukraine, which is part of Russia,” as well as his statements in support of Russian President Vladimir Putin, reported Lenta.

In January 2013, Gérard Depardieu was granted Russian citizenship.
