YEREVAN. – The Armenian authorities are confidently moving forward on Iran-Armenia railway project, Deputy Transport Minister Artur Arakelyan said.

“The project is complicated and expensive, it needs full support of the government. We agree to help the project by any possible means,” Arakelyan said.

He dismissed the opinion that the project is knowingly unprofitable.

“Head of Russian Railways Vladimir Yakunin dismissed such statements in a post on the company’s official website,” the official said.

The construction of the Iran-Armenia may amount to $3.5 billion, a representative of transport ministry earlier told Armenian News-NEWS.am. Construction is expected to last up to six years.  Investors have not been determined yet.
