YEREVAN. - Technical losses of Electric Networks of Armenia (ENA) will be reconsidered in October, Abgar Budaghyan, Head of the Development and Monitoring Department at the Public Services Regulatory Commission (PSRC) told Armenian News – NEWS.am

According to him, the methodology of unavoidable losses calculation was drawn up by the ENA, passed an independent expert examination and was approved by the Commission back in 2002. Last year the ENA experts stated of the necessity to improve the methodology and invited independent experts.

Based on their proposals, the company presented the new methodology, which is now applied in the Commission.

“As you understand, we need time to discuss all the technical details. The document may be discussed in October. The ENA will be able to present additional arguments by then. The final document on the discussion of the methodology of losses in the ENA will be open and accessible to the professional community. Transparency is one of the most important conditions for us,” the Commission representative said.

Responding to the question on whether the reconsideration of the methodology will result in tariff reconsideration, Budaghyan said he sees no implications for that yet. “Of course, everything will be clear only by the end of the work, but for now we can suppose, and not state, that the changes will not be that significant,” Budaghyan said.

The technical energy losses of the ENA amounted to 12,9 per cent in 2014, against the established norm of 11,2 per cent. Based on the analysis of independent experts, the company is proposing to set the norm at 12,4 per cent.
