YEREVAN. - By means of the constitutional reforms, the Armenian authorities want to cancel the presidential elections, in which they always suffer a defeat, Stepan Demirchyan, MP from Armenian National Congress and Chairman of People’s Party of Armenia told Armenian News – NEWS.am.

According to him, the stance of his party over the constitutional reforms remains unchanged. “Currently there’s no public need in Armenia to change the Constitution. The crisis in the country is not due to an imperfect Constitution, but because of its violation,” Stepan Demirchyan said, adding that it’s necessary to change the power and establish the tradition of honoring the Constitution in Armenia.

The first 7 chapters of the constitutional reforms were published on July 15. According to Armenia’s new Constitution, the country will switch to the parliamentary form of government.
