YEREVAN. – “Stand Up Armenia” initiative continues civil disobedience actions in Republic Square of Yerevan to voice their protest against electricity price rise.

For the second consecutive day police officers ban activists from holding a sit-in in the center of the square, the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent reports.

Earlier on Tuesday one of the movement leaders Davit Sanasaryan managed to break through police cordon, but he was immediately removed.

Around 100 police officers formed a wall not allowing protesters to approach the center of the square.

On Sunday protesters declared their intention to start a 72-hour sit in and spent night in the square. Earlier the initiative said they would launch a wave of protest actions unless Public Services Regulatory Commission declares the decision to increase electricity price invalid by July 27.
