YEREVAN. – There are shocking provisions in the project titled “Long-term (up to 2036) Development Perspectives for Energy System of the Republic of Armenia,” reported Haykakan Zhamanak daily.

“According to the scenario outlined by the project developers, the volume of [natural] gas imported [to the country] from Iran shall sharply increase—about four times—annually, starting in 2018. (…). Simultaneously, the volume of gas imported from Russia shall be drastically reduced, as of 2024.

“This is noteworthy by the fact that the ruling power [in Armenia] has done everything to this day to put our energy system almost completely under the control of the RF [i.e. the Russian Federation], and now, apparently, it decided to ‘play games,’” wrote Haykakan Zhamanak
