YEREVAN. – The Russian ruble has started to sharply depreciate since Tuesday morning, reported Zhoghovurd daily. 

“This was the first such sharp fluctuation in the exchange rate of the Russian ruble since January this year. 

“Economists do not rule out that the devaluation of the Russian ruble may continue.

“But, in the current situation, it is very important that the RA CB [i.e. the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia] be prepared for a possible scenario of a worst development of events, and hat a sharp and uncontrolled devaluation of the Armenian dram—like in December of last year—is ruled out.

“By the way, as a result of that devaluation, there was chaos in Armenia’s economy,” wrote Zhoghovurd.
