YEREVAN. – The Prime Minister of Armenia, Hovik Abrahamyan, on Tuesday visited the Aragatsotn Province, and to get familiarized with the ongoing excavations at the historical and cultural archaeological sites located in the area of Aghdzk village of Ashtarak city.

Head of the archaeological expedition team, Hakob Simonyan, presented to the PM the results of the first phase of their excavations, and the expedition team’s recommendations for the next phases.

Abrahamyan, speaking to reporters, noted that the preservation of historical and cultural heritage is at the focus of the Government of Armenia, and the government will continue allocating the necessary resources to complete these excavations.

Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan, for her part, informed that an archaeology development project—that is, selecting the most important monument and archaeological site in each region in Armenia, and implementing educational and tourism programs—has been submitted to the government.

Hovik Abrahamyan, during his visit to Aghdzk, also spoke with the villagers, and the latter raised issues related to their rural community.
