YEREVAN. - The members of the “Stand up, Armenia” initiative demanding to revoke the decision on electricity price hike managed to break through the police cordon and move to the central part of Yerevan’s Republic Square.

The policemen forced the protesters back from the centre, Armenian News -   NEWS.am correspondent reports. The activists also attempted to sit at the intersection of Yerevan’s Vazgen Sargsyan – Nalbandyan streets, but the policemen removed them from the street.

At the moment the policemen are standing by the street crossings near the Republic Square. The activists are continuously trying to sit in the streets close to the square, but the policemen are removing them quickly.

The situation in the Republic Square is continuing to remain tense. It’s already the third day the activists are trying to get the opportunity to stage a 72-hour sit-in in the central part of the Republic Square.
