The Moscow Prosecutor’s Office has not confirmed the indictment in the criminal case brought against Russian Armenian businessman Levon Hayrapetyan, and on charges of fraud.

TASS news agency of Russia reported the abovementioned citing attorney Ruben Margaryan.

“The prosecutor informed today that the criminal case against Hayrapetyan has been returned to the Investigative Committee because of insufficient evidence, [and] without approving the indictment,” he said.

Margaryan also noted that the defense had repeatedly insisted on the need to drop this criminal case.

The attorney added that the Moscow City Court held a hearing Thursday, to consider the appeal on the extension of Hayrapetyan’s current house arrest. The court, however, overruled this motion by the defense, and kept the businessman’s house arrest in force until September 15.

Apart from the case on fraud, Levon Hayrapetyan is also charged with appropriating the shares of the Bashneft oil company of Russia.
