Samuel Forrest, who has recently moved to New Zealand from Armenia, appeared in the court on Thursday on a charge of male assaults female. He denied the charge and faces a  trial in September, .stuff.co.nz reports.

The alleged assault victim is Trina McLachlan, a former co-trustee of the trust, which Forrest opened for his son. Earlier, Trina accused him of misspending the money from the trust.

The court was told that Forrest allegedly lifted McLachlan and flipped her over a table which hit her in the chest, after which Forrest allegedly punched her in the side of the head. ‪According to the woman, the incident has left her with difficulties related to communicating intended meaning.

Leo was born in Yerevan on January 21. He was diagnosed with Down syndrome. His father made headlines by launching 'Bring Leo Home' campaign on GoFundMe. More than $500,000 has been raised so far.
