YEREVAN. - Armenian police did not permit the “Stand up, Armenia” initiative members to sit on the government building stairs today.

The policemen forcefully removed the activists from the stairs, saying that sitting there was unlawful, as reported by Armenian News – NEWS.am correspondent.

But the activists said that it is the actions of the police that are unlawful.   

Meanwhile, the initiative council member Davit Sanasaryan managed to once again break through the police cordon and reach the centre of Yerevan’s Republic Square, but the police again removed him to the pavement.

The 72-hour sit-in announced by the “Stand up, Armenia” initiative is coming to its end today, but the activists are continuing to stay in the Republic Square, since they haven’t achieved their goal and staged a sit-in in the central part of the square. Large number of police is continuing to control them.

“Stand up, Armenia” initiative is demanding to revoke the decision on electricity price hike.
