YEREVAN. – The resident population in Armenia has dropped this year, as compared to the previous year.

Head of the Census and Demography Division at the National Statistical Service, Karine Kuyumjyan, said the aforementioned at a press conference on Friday.

Kuyumjyan added that a decline in population was recorded as a result of a negative balance in migration.

According to official statistics, Armenia’s population was 3 million and 5,500 people—including those absent from the country for one year—, as of July 1, 2015, and this is a drop by 4,300 people, against the same time period last year.
