YEREVAN. - Relatives of the dead mother in labor Mary Margaryan, 26, blame the doctors of Yerevan’s “Shengavit” Medical Centre, specifically Shushanik Bakhshyan, for the tragedy.

The woman’s brother, Martin Margaryan, told Armenian News – NEWS.am certain details on the circumstances of the case. According to him, Mary had been running high temperature since July 23. Shushanik Bakhshyan, the doctor of “Shengavit” medical centre, prescribed Mary febrifuge and sent her home. The medicine didn’t help, and on Friday they again went to hospital. The result was the same: the doctor again sent Mary home. On Saturday, Shushanik Bakhshyan refused to even approach her.

The relatives took Mary home, but on the next day her temperature jumped to 39,5. Shushanik Bakhshyan refused to examine Mary, saying that “there’s no need to panic,” but the relatives still insisted on Mary’s hospitalization. The next morning it turned out Mary felt bad at night, her temperature had dropped to 35,1. The duty doctor had advised to give her hot tea,” Martin Margaryan said, adding that Shushanik Bakhshyan appeared only by 9 o’clock, and advised to calm down, as she did the previous days.

“Then they said Mary had problems with her head. The therapist arrived in 40 minutes. Mary was taken to “Erebouni” medical centre where she had Caesarean section, after which she never woke up,” Martin Margaryan said.

Only in “Erebouni” medical centre the relatives found out that Mary had a double pneumonia, while in “Shengavit” medical centre the doctors had examined her lungs and said that everything was all right.

Relatives of Mary Margaryan are going to struggle till the end and demand punishing the guilty.

Mary Margaryan died on July 29. Her newborn baby died on July 30.

Case files are being prepared with regard to the incident. Forensic medical examination has been commissioned.
