YEREVAN. – The parliamentary form of governance will enable Armenia’s political parties and forces to have their rightful place in the system of governance.
Ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) MP Mkrtich Minasyan said the aforementioned at a press conference on Monday.
In his words, the country needs structural changes.
“As a result of constitutional reforms, the country’s governance will become more effective, and the political landscape—more precise and established,” assured Minasyan. “New opportunities will be created likewise in the economic, spiritual, and cultural life [in Armenia].”
The RPA deputy also reflected on the Venice Commission’s recommendation to review some provisions of Armenia’s draft Constitutional amendments, and noted: “The issued concept for constitutional reforms is not a dogma. It was announced from the very beginning that if there will be views and suggestions contributing to making the Constitution [of Armenia] stronger, we will be prepared to discuss them.”
Chapters 1 through 7 of the new draft Constitution of Armenia were made public on July 15. Accordingly, the country will make a transition from a semi-presidential to a parliamentary system of governance.
