YEREVAN. - The representatives of Yezidi organizations ended their hunger strike in front of the UN Office in Yerevan.
Sashik Sultanyan, head of the "Centre for Interethnic and Intercultural Cooperation", NGO and Rustam Bakoyan, head of the “Shams” humanitarian organization were those on hunger strike, Bakoyan told Armenian News – NEWS.am.
The representatives of Yezidi organizations lodged a letter with the UN, while the UN representatives assured they will take measures to inform the UN Headquarters about the issue.
According to Sultanyan, they don’t consider the hunger strike as a means of solving the issue, but as one through which they can show the seriousness of their intentions.
Sultanyan and Bakoyan went on hunger strike on August 1. Their protest was over the genocide of Yezidis committed by ISIS in northern Iraq.
