The Russian State Duma is preparing a bill that will prohibit Russian officials and civil servants from using social networking websites at their workplace.
Vice-chairman of the Duma Information Policy Committee, Vadim Dengin, stated about the aforementioned, reported Izvestia daily of Russia.
“Civil servants have no need for interacting in social networking websites with computers at work so they would not spend their time, since everyone has his own responsibilities and tasks, and the blocking of such services is based on the security concerns of internal networks,” said Dengin. “Of course, this shall not apply to the officials who use the social networking websites for interaction with the population.”
Vadim Dengin added that most social networking websites are developed by foreign companies, and therefore these websites can be used against Russia in time of information wars.
