Armenians from numerous countries took part in an annual pilgrimage to Mount Maruta (Maratuk), which is located in Sason (Sasun) district in the Batman Province of Turkey.

The Mount Maruta ascent, which is held every year at the end of July, took place this year too, reported Batmancagdas website of Turkey.

Armenians climbed to the summit of Mount Maruta, and lit candles and prayed at the Surp Asdvadzadzin (St. Mary’s) Armenian Church, which is located there.

The mayor of Sason noted that they had done everything so that the Armenians’ pilgrimage would be successful.

“We, as the local authorities, have projects regarding Mount Maruta, including the construction of a guest house,” added the mayor.
