Preparations for the Blessing of the Holy Chrism (Muron, in Armenian) got underway Wednesday at the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

After the evening service, the silver caldron filled with olive oil was put on the High Altar of the Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin, and covered with a decorative cloth.

From now on, prayers for the blessing of the olive oil will be offered every day after the evening service, and until the Blessing of the Holy Chrism.

This year’s Blessing of the Holy Chrism is slated for September 27, at Holy Etchmiadzin.

At the event, Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II will bless the Holy Chrism with the sacramental sanctities of the Armenian Apostolic Church. 

Subsequently, the newly blessed Holy Chrism will be distributed to all dioceses of the Church.
