Professor Mark Moogalian was named among those who managed to stop a criminal who opened fire in Paris-Amsterdam train.

He managed to tackle Ayoub El-Khazzani during Friday’s incident aboard an Amsterdam-Paris train, the Telegraph reported.

While protecting his wife Isabella Risacher who was also aboard the train, the 51-year-old professor of Sorbonne was shot in the neck.

Mr Moogalian lives in Paris but is originally from Midlothian, Virginia, US.

As reported by his wife, the man is in hospital.

Earlier French President Francois Hollande awarded  the Legion d'Honneur to the four heroes, Americans Spencer Stone, Alek Skarlatos and Anthony Sadler, and Briton Chris Norman. He said that he would award Moogalian too as soon as possible.
