Boko Haram militants killed about 8,000 Christians of the Brethren Church in Nigeria, head of the Church Reverend Samuel Dali said.
Expressing hope that the end of the terror group is near, the cleric said about 70% of the churches in Adamawa, Yobe and Borno states have been destroyed.
Many pastors have lost their jobs, since the churches were burnt and members killed, Naij.com reports.
Reverend Samuel Dali reminded that 176 out of the 300 kidnapped schoolgirls were Christians.
He compared the Christian population of Adamawa, Yobe and Borno with hostages.
Only 14 out of the 300 kidnapped schoolgirls managed to escape from captivity last year. The fate of the rest remains unknown.
