YEREVAN. – An exhibition, titled “Armin T. Wegner: Eyewitness of the Armenian Genocide” opened Tuesday at the Armémuseum in the Swedish capital city of Stockholm, and it showcases around thirty photos taken by German human rights activist Wegner, with the author’s notes and explanations.

The exhibition was organized by joint efforts of the Embassy of Armenia in Sweden, the Armémuseum, and Armenica.org organization as part of the Armenian Genocide Centennial Commemorations in Sweden, informed the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia.

During the year, the Swedish annotated edition of the book by Armin Wegner, and titled “Exile of Armenians into the Desert,” was also published by the efforts of the Union of Armenian Associations of Sweden.

Opening ceremony of the exhibition in Sweden brought together Deputy Speaker of Parliament Björn Söder, Parliamentary Group Leader of Christian Democrats Andreas Carlson, several other MPs, ambassadors accredited to Sweden, social, political and cultural figures, journalists, and representatives of the Swedish Armenian community.

Director of Armémuseum Eva-Sofie Ernstelle, and historian Vahagn Avedian delivered opening remarks at the event.

The exhibition will be open for three months.

The Armémuseum is a leading cultural institution in Stockholm and is included in the compulsory educational programs.
