Azerbaijani political analyst Zardusht Alizade rules out possibility of a large-scale war in Karabakh conflict zone.

In an interview with minval.az, he said a new stage of activity has started, but excluded possibility of a war.

“Azerbaijan does not need Karabakh. Armenia does not need war, and Russia all the more so. Kremlin keeps both sides under control,” he added.

According to the expert, the Azerbaijanis care only about dollar exchange rate. Asked about a possible meeting of presidents, he noted that the presidents have nothing to talk about because of the differences of the sides.

“On the other hand, they might be told, guys, show as if you are active,” the analyst added.

The Azerbaijani expert believes that everything about Karabakh depends on Russia, and the United States has realized this.

“Karabakh de facto does not belong to Azerbaijan for more than 20 years. Under the Bishkek protocol, the country assumed obligation not to try to return to Karabakh by forse. So what has changed? Society woke up, felt pain? Imagine a situation, if suddenly all Karabakh natives are told that they would be deported from Baku deep into Azerbaijan. It is not difficult to guess what will happen,” he added.
