YEREVAN. – Ucom telecommunication operator will focus on a strong 4G network to meet the needs of its new mobile customers, Mr Aram Barseghyan, commercial director of the company, told Armenian News – NEWS.am.

Ucom, one of the largest Internet providers in Armenia, has recently entered the dimension of mobile business.

Telecom businesses across the globe face increased data usage, along with diminishing revenues from phone calls. This is the case for Armenia too, and a roadmap for local business strategies for years to come, he said.

“3G has been quite successful in Armenia, and people keep looking for a new experience of Internet tasks with still larger bundles of data. This makes us confident in expecting an equal popularity for 4G,” Barseghyan added.

On August 20, Orange Armenia (the Armenian subsidiary of the French telecom giant, Orange) officially transferred its 100% equity to Ucom.

Speaking to the media on July 22, Orange Armenia’s CEO Francis Geliebter explained the retreat of the company by a lack of opportunity in Armenian market.
