YEREVAN. – A constructive discussion was held with President Serzh Sargsyan.

Opposition Pan-Armenian National Movement Board member, opposition Heritage National Assembly (NA) Faction member, and former Foreign Minister Alexander Arzumanyan, who participated in the ANC members’ talk Thursday with the President, told the aforementioned to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

“It’s a political process which we cannot disregard,” said Arzumanyan. “We  had issues, recommendations some of which were included in the new draft Constitution.

“There are problematic issues, about which we conveyed our recommendations and concerns.”

He noted that the Pan-Armenian National Movement has stated that from the very beginning that they support a parliamentary system of governance for Armenia, but there are problems with the text wording.

President Serzh Sargsyan on Wednesday started the series of his talks with Armenia’s political forces, and regarding the proposed constitutional reform in the country.
The new draft Constitution of Armenia has been forwarded to the NA. The respective parliamentary debates are expected to get underway during its first four-day fall session. And as per the NA speaker, the constitutional referendum should be conducted in late fall.

Pursuant to the new draft Constitution, Armenia will make a transition from a presidential to a parliamentary system of governance.
