YEREVAN. – More boys are born in Armenia because of selective abortions, representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Armenia Garik Hayrapetyan said.
Male-to-female ratio in Armenia in the group under 19 makes 111.4 to 100.
“The problem of sex-selective abortions is common worldwide. Unfortunately, this is a topical issue in Armenia, too. And the results are already visible, as this practice has become a common thing for our country,” he added.
